Following the success of its previous recycling campaigns and encouraged by the over-whelming response and support from its customers, Singapore's leading fashion label Blum & Co will again embark on its third consecutive recycling project in the month of August with an ambitious aim of reaching a wider audience and creating an even bigger impact for the needy and underprivileged.
The launch of Blum & Co's GO GREEN MOVEMENT! in August also marked the crux of her "Green Humanitarian" initiatives this year. Efforts from previous two campaigns held in 2009 and early 2010 respectively generated over 7,000 pieces of recyclable clothing that would otherwise have ended up in the dumping grounds, are now salvaged to support charity and humanitarian efforts.
The benefiting charity at hand is Salvation Army which also plays an important role in helping our customers go green and ethical. The collected clothes are first sorted before re-selling the ones that are barely used and new at affordable costs through its network of Family Thrift Stores while donating the rest for local or overseas humanitarian efforts during emergencies and disasters such as the Asian Tsunami and Earthquake. Income generated from such effort goes to supporting Salvation Army's social and community programmes for the needy and underprivileged.
From now till 31st August 2010, customers can drop off their used suits and dresses at any Blum & Co boutique and be rewarded with an attractive cash rebate on their purchases. What better way to shop to a greener planet while doing a part for the community? To make things easier for customers who wish to clear out large quantities of their clothing or large household items, eg. furniture etc. Blum & Co offers to facilitate free pick-up of these items with the support from Salvation Army.
Blum & Co's GO GREEN MOVEMENT! boast three ways customers can feel good while doing good; filling their wardrobes with the latest styles and designs, doing their part in protecting the planet, and supporting the charitable efforts of Salvation Army in helping the needy and underprivileged.
Ms Anna Kong, founders of Blum & Co elaborate, "The reason our previous campaigns were a major success was that our customers really love getting involved and to contribute; we believe that consumer's mood, behaviour and lifestyle is changing and shifting away from 'throw away' fashion. The GO GREEN MOVEMENT! allows them to save money, reduce waste, get rid of clothes they no longer wear, declutter their homes and most importantly, do something for charity. It’s really fun and exciting to see our customers staying eco-chic."
Turning one person’s waste into another person’s resource, Blum & Co is setting a truly sustainable mindset in the hearts of its customers. Every little effort goes a long way to making this world a more beautiful place to live in.
